What we like about this town is the lovely long promenade you can walk along which is dotted with restaurants, bars and hotels. It has a wide sand and pebble beach which the children couldn’t wait to get on

Vizille & Grenoble, France

The Chateau in Vizille is pretty impressive and houses the museum of the French Revolution. A bonus was that it was free admission, which makes a nice change. It is an interesting museum which is spread over several floors. Although it was all in French we enjoyed looking at the large-scale paintings evoking the era which followed the logical thread of the historical sequence of events.

Lake Annecy, France

Oh wow, Lake Annecy is so much more than we imagined it would be. It is a truly picturesque place to visit. In fact, it’s probably one of the most beautiful towns and lakes that we have ever seen. This is one place that is going onto our list of top 10 places to visit.

Port Grimaud & St Tropez,

Port Grimaud is a lovely little working port that is full of character and charm. It became derelict but in the last 50 years has been renovated.

Its like a mini Venice with canals, bridges, restaurants, bars ice cream shops and its pedestrian only. From here you could get a boat into St. Tropez.

The area of Petit Venice can’t really be compared to Venice as it is so small but it is very beautiful and pretty with colourful flowers everywhere. The beautiful brightly coloured buildings and flower boxes lining the canal and narrow stone streets are like something out of a fairytale.

Arles, Six Fours Plages and Sanary s Mer, Southern France

We spent a few hours walking around and had lunch in the old city of Arles. During the 17th and 18th centuries, stately townhouses were built which are part of the charm of the old city, where dozens of buildings, some dating back 2000 years, are listed as Historical Monuments (Roman and Romanesque buildings are listed as Unesco World heritage monuments.

Snowy Northern Spain – Our first motorhome trip

As we got onto the autoroute towards Pamplona the sleet turned to snow. Within 10-20 minutes it was really heavy and laying and within no time it was a foot deep. This was very scary as HGV’s were jackknifing and getting stuck.
