We drove from Augsburg to Landsberg am Lech, and by the time we arrived at the Stellplatz, the sun was out and it was feeling quite hot.
Landsberg is an attractive old town situated on the banks of the River Lech. We enjoyed walking around the main square. We bought our first ice creams of the trip here. I thought Ray had ordered the chocolate mint ice cream, but instead, we were given an apple-flavoured ice cream. (Never had one before, but there were little bits of green skin from the apple in the ice cream. I didn’t particularly enjoy it, especially as I was expecting a different flavour of chocolate and mint.
The town is perhaps more famous for its prison and, in particular, cell number 7, where Adolf Hitler was incarcerated in 1924 and where he wrote Mein Kampf.
We stayed the night at an ACSI camping site on the lake. It worked out more expensive than the Stellplatz which was joined to the campsite but as I needed to wash my hair and we needed to do a couple of wash loads we decided on the campsite. It turned out really well as the next day it was really sunny and quite hot so we managed to get all our washing dry and spent the day sunbathing until about 5 pm when we then had a bad storm.
