Islares, Cantabria
Thursday 12th September
We left San Sebastian heading for the Bilbao area. We were not sure where we were going to stay at this point as we wanted to drive along the coast and see what took our fancy. The scenery was fantastic. When we stopped for lunch overlooking a lovely bay we found a campsite in the ACSI book in Islares, (Cantabria region).
Camping Playa Arenillas is ideally situated by the sea, in the small village of Islares on the Cantabrian coast, between Santander and Bilbao.
Once we parked the van up on our pitch we walked outside the site and couldn’t believe our eyes. Straight in front of us was one of the most gorgeous bays. As we walked further around the bay we found another one – It is so beautiful in this area with plenty of green parklands, imposing cliffs and fine sandy beaches.
There is a hotel/restaurant and 3 other restaurant/bars in this area so more than enough to sample over the next day or two.
