Campsite Review
Campsite Turiscampo is a terraced campsite in Praia da Luz/Lagos area.
One of the best campsites along the Algarve.
Pitches are various sizes, with and without shade.
The site is beautifully landscaped.
Sanitary Facilities
The toilet and shower facilities are excellent, in fact, I would say they are a 5-star plus. They are extremely clean and well maintained.
The staff are very evident throughout the day, keeping the campsite spotless. Even the walls are cleaned daily.
A great feature is the special children’s sanitary area, which has been specially fitted out for children with lower child height shower heads and toilets. Baby baths and baby changing facilities.
Electricity
6amp but you can upgrade to 10amp
Wifi
There is an area where you can get free wifi, but otherwise, you have to pay. Wifi is available on your pitch 80% of the site.
The Shop
The shop is well stocked with a wide range of products, including fresh bread every day.
We were surprised as we even managed to pick up some spares that we had been looking for to fix our motorhome.
Bar/Restaurant/Swimming Pools
There is a bar/restaurant which overlooks a lovely swimming pool with lots of sunbeds available. The pool area is quite large.
Next to the outdoor pool is an indoor heated pool and toddlers pool with a sliding roof.
Fitness Room, sauna, whirlpool, steam bath and beauty centre are all available.
The restaurant serves great food at reasonable prices with a buffet in the evening. We have had the buffet a few times, and there is always an excellent selection of fresh food to choose from.
Evening entertainment was provided some evenings when we were there in September/October. They also have themed evenings.
Washing Facilities
Washing machines, tumble dryers and ironing facilities are available.
Dogs
Dogs are only permitted in high and low season if they are kept on a lead at all times.
Even the dogs have a dedicated shower area.
Bus
Across the road opposite the campsite is a bus stop. You can get into Lagos (5 km) from here which is approximately a 10-minute journey.
The walk into Praia da Luz is only about 10-15 minutes although the walk back would be a bit more taxing in the heat as it is a very steep hill. Next door to the campsite is a village called Espiche where you can catch a bus to go the short journey to Luz.
The beaches in the area are excellent – some of the best.
